Health Checks

Dogs and cats age on average, five to eight times faster than humans. Pets age so rapidly, major health changes can occur in a short amount of time. The risk of heart disease, arthritis, kidney disease, cancer, diabetes, obesity and other serious conditions all increase with age.  Early detection is important, and health checks can help your veterinarian diagnose and treat problems early, or even prevent problems from occurring altogether, therefore enabling the best possible outcome for your pet.

Annual health checks also offer you a great opportunity to ask us about nutrition, behaviour or any other relevant topics.

We recommend health checks every 12 months for dogs and cats under 7 years of age and every 6 months for pets over 7 years of age.

Just like dogs and cats, your exotic pets need yearly health checks to prevent diseases and to ensure their best quality of life. At Meadows Vet Centre we provide routine health checks for rabbits, guinea pigs, reptiles, amphibians, birds and ferrets. This is a great opportunity to discuss any health concerns you may have, and to ask questions about parasite control, diet or housing. Call the Clinic to book your lizard, bunny, snake, parrot or chicken for their annual health checkup.
